As good as these machines are, isn't the person behind the lens more important?
Of course, it's probably the most important thing, for both capture and processing. But, if two photographers have very similar abilities, then bodies and glass will make a difference if one has the best and one doesn't. This becomes even more evident under bad lighting. And in the dog-eat-dog world of sports shooting where the pros are trying to sell their images and competing against other very good shooters, any advantage is most welcome. Like ISO, shutter speed and aperture are equally important to the image, pros need ability, equipment and access. A weakness in any of these can compromise image quality.
