Attached is a photo of a water polo player that shows white blotches in the photo. It was the only one of the several hundred shot over the weekend that had the white blotches on it. This was shot on an overcast day.
Today I shot a swim meet and the white blotches appeared on the swimmer for three photos in a row. That photo is the second photo. This was shot in the bright sun of Islamorada, FL.
I know that there was no water on the lenses, so the blotches cannot be water spots.
Both photos were unretouched except to resize them and save them as jpegs for posting here.
I shoot with a Sony a900, a Sony 70-200/2.8 G, and a San Disk ultra 16gb card. There is some coating missing on the exterior of the lens, but the glass near the mount is flawless. Could this be causing the blotching / white spotting? If so, why don't the white blotches / spotting appear in more or all of the photos?
I shot many shots from the same angle and direction, and these are the only photos that appeared this way.
Can someone assist me in getting to the bottom of what is causing the white blotches?
Thank you.
