I'm still using an old D 300s and a Nikkor 70-300mm ED zoom lens. My Nik 300mm f/4 lens is a little too long as I sit only about 15 feet away.
I can't wait to see how the new D 500 pans out in reviews and if problems show up.
Thank you Dave. I use to use the 70-300, I found it was sharper stopped down to around f/7.1. At 15' with the 300 f/4 you definitely would fill the frame

From what I can find, that type of bill issue can be caused by fungus ( possibly feeders that are not kept clean) or genetics.
