If this is in response to the thread about the 200mmF2 lens and viability of MF for moving objects, which I assume it is, shouldn't all the pictures also be at F2 or equally thin DOF?

Nice shots, but yea, agreed with vcook, any "best" thread will have to have wide apertures as one of the criteria. Maybe F4 or faster. Depends on the focal length too, so class would be another criteria. Wide angle at F8 would have such a huge depth of field to play with, one wouldn't even need to touch the focus ring much. The margin of forgiving error for spot-focus at high f-stops would be significant in any reasonable focal length anyway.

Nah, f/2 is not thin enough. How about f/1.2?

Well Laura,

Thanks for the invite and my first attempt at setting foot out of the manual focus forum. MF and moving objects make quite a challenge.

The first set is from my "secret spot" outside the grounds of the Lakeland Sun N Fun where the Blue Angels appeared a few years ago. As an aside, note the "No. 4 Jet" is ALWAYS piloted by a Marine Corps Aviator. He spotted my "panels" and came down to take a very close look. I was rewarded with these shots.

You didn't say how fast the subject is moving so I figured a moving pedestrian would qualify... Great idea Laura. This taken with the 55 f/1.2 S.C. AI but ONLY at f/2.8.

But I DID take a photo of an airplane taking off with Nikki, the 85 f/1.8 H.C. AI that touched so many of our hands three years ago.

The swirly bokeh of that 85mm f1,8 Nikkor-H is still tempting.
