Okay so this works key camera functions with Sigma Canon Mount (EOS) and Sigma Mount (SA) lenses.

What about also just mounting Canon EOS lenses and using them manually too?

Anyone interested in this converter? Sounds pretty great.

Yes, I'm interested to find out if it preserves all Canon native lens functions, at least for lens designs of the last decade or so. Looks like it would be an interesting alternative to the Metabones or other expensive choices.

Additionally, I've got a very nice Sigma 24-105 OSS in Nikon mount . . . waiting to see if Sigma refines to use Nikon G series lenses on Sony bodies.

Shoot, if they put in a reliable aperture actuator and don't charge too much for it, and that's *all* that works with Nikon lenses, most would be ecstatic. If it can do the electromagnetic ones ('E') too, then even better!

(on that point- why didn't third-party makers that obviously had electromagnetic diaphragms for EF-mount versions not port those over to F-mount?)

I have a Sony A7, the Sigma MC-11 and, recently, the Canon 40mm 2.8 STM. I cannot get it to focus at all -- hunting, back and forth.

The Sigma MC-11 is really only made to work with the newer Sigma "Global" lenses- the ones taht can be adjusted with the dock.

The Sony A7 only has Contrast Detect Auto Focus (as far as I know.) The Sony A7II, A7RII, and A6300 have Phase Detect Auto Focus, which is much faster with the 3rd party lenses that can use it.

I don't know how well the Metabones adapter works on the A7II. I have heard good reports about the AR7II.

Almost every Canon lens that is shorter than 150 mm works pretty well on the A6300 with the latest Metabones. The longer lenses can struggle a bit.

Check the previous links, and the Sony forum in general.
