It's been a long time since I have shared anything on the boards here so I thought I would again. Haven't used photobucket as a host in years so I hope the quality isn't messed up lol

a bit harsh on the light from the flash ... the lighting and shadows don't look natural.

Are you talking about #1?

It is harsh in that one I kinda thought the same but any lower and her fave was too dark

In 2, the shadow in front of her is just from the sun.

I love #1. #2 is a bit harsh and would look more pleasing if her lower half was exposed to match her upper half. #3 is good but a little too much contrast between subject and the background

It's contingent on what "look" you are going for. In some commercial applications, this is actually acceptable and if it was what you were going for...great job.

As for being a natural purist, ocf wouldn't matter anyway as the shadow direction and where the sun emits light wouldn't cohere to the laws of lighting anyway--depends on what you perceive as natural.

This is Photography, which tbh...the moment we pose our talents and contrive the scene, makes everything artificial already--our goal is convince our viewers to BELIEVE it is real and natural. Also why it is such a subjective artform.

I think you would've benefited more with a more diffused modifier w/ a better wrap and falloff--try a parabolic umbrella or octabox.

Shots are lovely and the composition is good.

Thanks photo. I definitely was planning on using the foldable octbox but the winds were about 15-20 and it wouldn't have ended well lol

Really appreciate your time / response
