Often to relieve tedium, I start at the end of the wedding and work back through.

Anyone else?

I edit by lens...easier to copy and paste setting...especially when clients don't sync cameras.

I edit by camera serial number....and by day. Meaning (multiple day events), I finish editing all cameras for a particular day prior to moving to the next.

As far a syncing.... the only rule... don't change the camera time during the day.

I sort, then cull beginning to end. I always end up editing shit in the middle, be it to make sure it is worth keeping or I get distracted or excited or whatever.

This edit by lens thing of Doug's intrigues me, though. Might have to try that some time.

Edit my favorites first (send them off to the client/vendors the night of or morning after), then cull everything as one batch, apply overall presets, then edit by camera.

Regardless of how you edit, I think all editing sessions benefit from a glass (or three) of your preferred beverage.

How do you find your favorites? I wish I could do this, but I never know what my favorites ar going to be until I'm finished.

Just anything that catches my eye while briefly scrolling through.

I also typically know/remember shots I enjoy as I take them, so I have a few in mind before hand. I then also try to throw all my vendors a bone as well (a couple flower shots, dress shots, overall shots, food, etc...).

Culling (in Photomechanic) in reverse order is faster and a little less tedious.

I edit chronologically though, but I tend to cherry pick a few favorites to edit and release first.

Culling is so 2015 and over rated, I just give them all the RAW files and say, here have at it.

The reception photos always are the easiest/fastest for me to edit, so I leave them for last by editing front to back normally.

Also, in order to keep my photo editing relatively consistent, I must edit photos in sequence (because my color taste and adjustments are subjective and can vary between photos). If I were to jump around (e.g. editing all from a single lens only), I would end up with some photos brighter/bluer/etc. than others taken around the same time.

Dual screens helps me with the tedium, watching a movie/etc. on the second screen while editing.

Doesnt the color mood of the movie influence your editing !

I cull while listening to the Lord of the Rings soundtrack. Don't judge me!

In fact I would say that yes my editing methods are influenced by mood and what I'm watching/listening to, but not to such a degree as to make the photos look radically different. I keep to within a few pegs of color and exposure consistency at all times (at least as far as this LCD display allows such precision).

That said, I've never been very satisfied with my post-work. I don't end up liking the colors or contrast as much as I want to, but I've never been able to find a tone curve/color saturation blend/etc. that fit just right.

I edit by camera and by sequence. So, I edit all of my seconds photos THEN all of mine, or vice versa. If I were to edit my second photographer's photos sprinkled in with mine, it'd go a lot slower since we are often in different lighting situations, especially during the getting ready portion of the day.
