I just arrived home from a long day of delays and travel (Rome to Chicago)
My Batis 18 is from pop flash and I prob won't need it again for a long time (6 to 12 months). It served its purpose for me on this trip. I just don't shoot that wide very often. If anyone is keen to have one for a trip before they're widely available, I can sell mine at cost. I'll pay shipping and you pay paypal fees or friends and family.
Not trying to bend rules by "listing" here, but more as a service bc it's hard to find right now. PM if interested.

Thanks, I'll ship it first thing Tues morn.
It's an absolutely beautiful lens but I just won't get enough use out of it right now and I'm glad it will be in good hands!

Reneging on my statement to stop posting here. As long as people find it enjoyable (you can always see these images in the Sony FE thread), and as long as there aren't many of these Batis 18mm lenses in the wild:

xpost w/ big thread:

ceiling of St. Peters (it was starting to get crowded and this was a quick snap as i was walking out) - as far as the Lox21 v B18 debate, IQ characteristics aside, there are just so many situations where AF (even in this wide of AoV) comes in handy, IMO.

wide-open, 1/50th, ISO 800 (a7r2)

xpost w/ big thread.

When the B18 was first released into the wild, there were a lot of comparisons with the L21 at landscape distances - a use i would never have. Here's an example of what i like to use an UWA for (besides interiors / ceilings) - not the greatest shot, but fun - actually a very fun moment:

The view of Positano from inside a fresh juice vendor.
Driving along the Amalfi coast, I stopped looking for a view of Positano.
I bought several glasses of orange juice from a local and then he let me into his stand to get this shot.
I only wish his stand had been situated closer to the coast so there was less of the street in view.

Batis 18 on a7r2
f/5.6, 1/500, ISO 100

^^Good points on the AF when it comes to comparisons to the Loxia. As much as I like the size/IQ of the Loxia, that's where I was at as well and why I chose the 18mm Batis...as mine is used in situations like yours in "run & gun" situations as opposed to only when I have plenty of time for MF.

as Guy said (love this quote) - "Not everyone is sitting on top of a mountain"

To be honest, i like the look of the L21 (for me the choice wasn't a function of IQ or rendering) - i'm just not skilled whatsoever in MF - but CharlesK does a great job of environmental shots with his L21 - i just know my keeper rate would be sub 10% and my frustration level 100%.

The B18 was A TON OF FUN to use both when i was inside old churches/castles, etc as well as walking around Chicago and Italy. It also was a great bookend to a 3 lens kit when paired with either the B25 + Z55 or Z35 + 85GM.

Just a note: As with other recent Zeiss lenses, this one comes with the free 3-year warranty if you fill out the card in the first 4 weeks. Don't forget!

When you register online, there's a field where you can leave your comments. Maybe it's because there aren't a ton of these out yet, and I might have been one of the first in Germany to order-- but within minutes of my registration going through, Zeiss wrote me an email to follow up on my constructive criticism regarding diameter/filter setup for the lens (as well as crushing my dreams, a bit, for a Batis in my preferred FL... or .....).

When a company reaches out like that, it's worth mentioning and giving kudos where they are due. So, cheers to Zeiss on that-- even if the heart of my system has a hole in it no native, AF lens has yet to fill.

Batis 35 by chance? That's what I would love if f/1.8 or f/2

Your shots are so fine Ecarlino, especially the architecture!
I for one, am glad you will continue with a Batis 18mm.
Please continue to share!

It is worth the wait, Alfredo. Have you checked with Popflash in California? They normally get Zeiss lenses in ample quantity.

No I have not. I have tried a few smaller shops but none have it in stock. I will call popflash. Thanks.

Anyone have any case recommendations?

There's a 9x13cm version of a lowepro bag, but it's just a bit too snug with the lens hood attached & reversed.
