Does anyone know if my TC-80N3 remote controller work on my soon-to-arrive 1DX II? Or is everything wireless now?

It looks like they've changed the remote connection to a new 12-pin arrangement, so the N3 type remote cords likely won't be usable.

They moved it to the other side...it is now just above the on/off switch on the grip.

You can see the port here....just look for the little flap above the on/off switch

Just like the old T-90. It will interfere with holding the camera when you need to compose a shot, but at least it won't be blocked by an L-bracket.

Yes, it moved to the other side. Seems fine to me other than getting used to it after 20 years of plugging in an N3 type remote on the left. And I do hope it is not too much in the way for griping the camera.

The 12 pin connection is for the WiFi adapter lump that plugs in on the top of the left side, and that the same as the original 1DX.

Which direction does the remote cord run? Are there any images with the socket exposed?

No images that I can find...but...by looking at it and if Canon was smart...it should come off/out to the back of the camera.

To the side...it would interfere with the Off/On switch...if towards the front that would make make a weird kink and stress in the cable and port...Soooo hopefully it will come out...towards the back.

Will know for sure in less than 30 days!

Yes it will work. It is explicitly stated on the user manual. TC-80N3 or RS-80N3, and wireless controller LC-5.

Can download the user manual here.
