Well this is one hell of a thread. 1,3,5 are just impeccable. Those faces in the rock on 1 are just plain awesome. Reminds me of something I would see in an Indiana Jones film. The hot air ballon makes the photo in 3 with an amazing backdrop to show what looks like liftoff. the way the light is cutting through in 5 is just dreamy. 2 is good but has a hard time matching up to the 3 previously mentioned. 4 I like the action in the sky but the tree farm in the foreground is a big distraction the way the trees are so arranged. I think if you had walked forward to the edge of the farm and just had the grass in the foreground the comp would have been much stronger. Thanks for sharing, this one got my vote for featured.

Thanks Charlie. On #4 I actually did take a series of shots on the edge of the field. The sky had closed up, and the drama was gone. ( Within minutes )

Hey Matt,
Great work here, though it may be weeks before my eyeballs recover.
#2 and 5 would be my picks for favorites.

Jim, I apologize for the eye strain my friend.

I think you should send the first one to id Software for the cover of the new DOOM game Looks like Hell on Mars. While I don't personally go for this style of photos, I do appreciate the work you put into them. It's candy for the eyes!! My pick would be #3. Good stuff Matt.

Thats a great idea ! Actually, it has licensed a bit on Getty Images. Time will tell. Fingers crossed.

Jaw-droppers, Matt!
1 and 5 are balls to the wall amazing.
Would love to hear about the gear/settings/processing you employed.
Cheers,
Jeff

Hi Jeff. 1-4 were taken with a D800E and a 14-24mm. #5 ( Sur Lighthouse) was with a Canon 5D MarkII and I believe a 70-200 IS.
thanks for the nice words.

Holy moley. (Looks at his own camera, throws it into the trash can, takes dog for a long walk).

Des, just gotta put your feet in front of amazing scenery. Thats the trick.

Wow! #1 looks more like an album cover. Ghoulish yet mesmerizing. If that were mine it would be printed metallic and large!
Love the comp and colors of the hot air balloon.
And your last one of the lighthouse is a classic!
Dave
Hi Dave, actually I sold a fine art print on exactly that. A 45" x 60" printed on a chromira / kodak glossy metallic. It looked stunning!!!
Thanks for taking the time to comment everyone. I appreciate it.
