One night of low light testing on a nikon lens and you're going to jump ship to a 3rd party lens in hopes it will focus better? Good luck with that pursuit.

Still evaluating. No commitments to any lens yet. But, I do a lot of shooting in low lit areas and I can tell you the Nikon had the focus wrong more than half the time even when it confirmed it was in focus. I will be trying the same with the Sigma tomorrow.

As I said earlier, I like the ergo of the Nikon a lot more. and sharpness was very good. But if a lens can't focus consistently, I might as well use my manual focus Zeiss which is no slouch. The main reason I am doingthis is because I now want auto focus and want it to be reliable. At least better than my old eyes.

AF at 1.4 is always going to be a bit variable on any lens given the nature of phase detection AF. Very thin DOF means shot-to-shot variability results in some OOF shots.

I love my 35 f1.4g but mine will miss focus wide open in low light whereas in good light it will nail it the vast majority of the time. It is frustrating because the draw of a f1.4 lens is to use it in dimly lit bars and restaurants, but it can be inconsistent in those situations.
