Went out taking photos with Rachel again yesterday, and we came across this scene. Had to shoot it at high ISO because the light was so bad.

I was so fixated on the fox that I didn't notice the turtle that he was looking at, a nice surprise when it was being processed.

Rachel was excited at being there and seeing all that was around her, to bad it was at the NC Museum of of Natural Sciences. We had a good time exploring the Museum and its exhibits

Thanks for looking CC welcome.

Nice to see somebody posting here. I would tighten up the crop.

It has been too quiet around here lately

I was concerned about cropping tighter on the right because it cuts off the tip of the fern.

I tried cropping tighter and tipping the fern, I like it but the fern still bothers me.

Thanks Ben for the input.

Yes, this works, that fern is a minor element.

What about a vertical crop?
Next time try to get a lower angle, you'll get a better isolation.
BTW you should post your images in sRGB color space.

I like Socrate's rework but not sure I would lose the fern.

+1 @ Spring bringing many more new shots!!!

The verticle crop is another view that has merit, I couldn't get any closer to isolate the fox more because of the barrier and my 50mm lens.

I would have like a lower angle but it would have caused the fern to interfere with the face of the fox. Plus lower was blocked by a barrier.

Thank you Socrate for the rework and input.

You must not have been wearing your camo Walt. He looks scared stiff.

I prefer you second edit out of all of them.

I've done a little shooting but most of what I got so far is less than stellar and I wouldn't dare to post them up here. I figure if I can see some problems I'm sure you folks would beat me senseless about the head. I'm not having a good year so far.

Sounds like mine. I am in the same boat, so I am spending my time reworking my best stuff from 2006 onward. But nothing good enough for FM.

It's crazy isn't it? It reminds me of bowling. Once you're in the groove it's easy to nail the pins repeatedly but once you cool down for a short bit of time it's hard to keep it out of the damn gutter.

I almost feel like someone swapped out my lenses when I wasn't looking over the winter. It's the only plausible explanation for all my crappy shots this year.

I started to do the same thing Ben. I was going to finally process a few shots I took this winter after a big snow storm but to my dismay, I lost the entire folder as well as many other VERY important wildlife images after recovering ALL my photos from a windows restore. A few weeks ago I had lost my 750 GB HDD that I was storing all my photo's and videos on. The Windows "back-up" somehow lost over 145 various raw images.
145 isn't bad out of thousands but there are a few missing that were what I considered my very best wildlife moments.

Sounds like you need a better archive method. I have originals of every digital image taken from 2004 onward, and Tiffs from 1999 til 2004. Multiple storage. Sometimes they are hard to find. but I have them.

I have not taken bad images this year, more like none. A few family shots and some practice shots.
