p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Street Portrait

Walking along the downtown streets of Lancaster, PA last weekend, I came upon this young man sitting on the stoop of his home, warming himself in the afternoon sun. He was quite chatty, stopping me and admiring my camera. After some small talk, he told me that he was recently released from prison and was living at home with his mother, attempting to get a fresh start in life. He had served 18 months and claimed that he had taken the brunt of whatever he had done, not wanting to snitch on a friend. The conversation then veered into the political election campaign. I soon asked him if I could take his photo and he was very obliging. Photographing on the streets is often an illuminating adventure.

Digging the capture and the backstory, Steve!

The hands are vying for my attention here - maybe burn the hands a bit or add some vignetting?

Perhaps a mono rendition?

Cheers,

Jeff

Jeff:
Thanks for your sharp eye. The face should always attract the most attention, and brightening it slightly is a great suggestion. Will try mono tonight.

Per Jeff's suggestion, lighten the face, and then black and white conversion.
