180mm is too close to a Water Moccasin...for me, at least. They are the most aggressive snake I've ever encountered in the underbrush. But, I'm sure you know what you're doing...

Talk about coitus interruptus. At least, you didn't have to say, "Fangs for the memories"...

A few shots from the May Day parade. We were following it very closely (at least because it's usually pretty colorful); I was mostly attached to the Communist column. If you haven't been following the local politics lately, they've been the largest opposition group for the last two decades, but their support was usually about 10-15%. So they remain a mildly influential force but there's pretty much no chance of them ever coming to power again because a pretty large majority wouldn't want them anywhere near the steering wheel. In the meantime, they are a (visually) entertaining sight.

I haven't been to any of the May Day rallies since 2010 but that year, this guy was also there with his accordion. I surmise he'll be here in 20 years as well.

This girl has been the star attraction of the CPRF unit. Judging by the amount of attention she was getting, she's already on the AFP and EPA photo feeds - that much is certain.

It was pretty hard to get decent phases of both the legs of everyone involved and the flags in one picture. Can't say I've caught an ideal movement phase, but I've seen worse.

A bit of the LGBT supporters. They didn't have their own column this time because the city authorities have banned it, but they were interspersed with the "green bloc" (ecologists, feminists and whatnot) nevertheless.

I'm pretty happy to find these woodpeckers build a nest right at my worksite and only me and the boss know about it. They are switching places, so I figure the eggs will hatch in a couple weeks. I am hoping to get some good stuff when they feed the chicks.

Few more from a local lake. Can't imagine a more versatile lens for everyday nature and wildlife photography than the 100-400 II. If I had to live with only one lens, this is unquestionably the one I'd pick.

It looks like you stayed in Cox Bay? The best place on the planet that I've been to. #9 is my favourite.

Nicely done!
