p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Small lens in the 20-24mm range

I have the Voigtlander 15mm III and like it a lot. I'd like a similarly small lens in the 20-24mm range, but I suspect there isn't any viable option.

The 21mm f4 Skopar has issues with Sony A7x. The Ultron is too heavy for my liking. The Distagon is too big and heavy. The Leicas are not only expensive, but have the magenta shift and smearing issues, from what I understand. Am I overlooking another option?

I'd rather not use an EF, OM, Nikon or M42 mount lens since the adapter makes the lenses relatively large, but if those are the only choices, I'll reluctantly consider something them (like the OM 21).

You have to consider the Zeiss Loxia 21/2.8. I just got mine and instantly fell in love with it. Less costly you might consider the Canon FD 24/2.8.

Have you considered the Minolta 20/2.8? The AF Dynax/Maxxum would be large-ish, but the MD would be a touch smaller. There is also an older 21mm. If you want special, the MD VFC 24/2.8 has very fun potential.

Then there is always what I consider a sleeper small lens.... the Konica's. With its short registration distance, the 21/4 is slow, seems to have a decent reputation. I have read good things about the much smaller 21/2.8, but know nothing about it even 3rd hand.

While the Loxia is a nice small lens, the OM is really small and I think with an adapter will be about the same size ... (the 3.5 version)

Yes, the OM 21/3.5 or the OM 24/2.8 sound like the best options. The nFD 20/2.8 is another option, but a bigger, heavier one.

If one had the A7RII, one could get the Zeiss 12mm and shoot in cropped mode to get 18mm & AF in a small, light package for a reasonable price.

I have the OM 24/2.8 and it's about the size of the FE 55 when adapted, maybe a bit heavier.

The edges leave me wanting for more tbh (even stopped down). The FD 24 was about the same from what I recall. FD 28, about the same.

Odd thing about the FD20/2.8 (and 17/4) is that the front element rotates with focus (IIRC).
However, that 20 is a nice lens. A little bigger than what you are probably looking for though. There are Nikkors that are smaller.
Nikkor 20/4 is small and wonderful, but with a good bit of falloff until a few stops down, not unlike ALL of the Oly wides.

How is the Nikon Nikkor 20mm f/2.8 AiS? Haven't seen a lot from that lens, wondering what people think of that one?

If size is priority then the MS optical Perar series is probably the smallest option out there.

The Nikon 2.8s are good but the FD is better.
