Y'all keep in mind the flow of Horsetail Fall changes daily. The flow is dictated by the snowpack, and whether that snowpack is receiving direct sunlight and for how long. No flow in the morning can be a torrent by 3pm, and vice-versa. So, between 5:22pm and 5:30pm, during the last 10 days of February, there must be:
1) A large enough snowpack to generate snowmelt
2) Enough sunlight during the day to melt snow for the runoff
3) A clear sky directly to the west
Any deviation for any of these parameters will detract from the display. This is why it is so much of a challenge to capture. What it is doing today is a good barometer of what we might expect later in the month. But it's predicted to be clear the next ten days which will certainly reduce the snowpack. Try to capture it early, say from the 10th or 12th of Feb. You might get lucky.
