p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Tripod in the $300 range

I searched and mostly found expensive tripod recommendations.

My cost is $300 maximum. I realize spending more is better but this is what I can do. I can do it used.

Mostly will be used for Macro and Landscapes.

List of gear it'd need to support:

Canon 6D Camera w/ battery grip and 2 batteries, possibly a flash as well

Lens:
Canon 16-35 F4
Canon 70-200 2.8 IS II (I imagine this is the heaviest)
Canon 100mm 2.8 IS macro
Canon 24-105 F4
Canon 50mm

Thank you for your feedback.

I had this one for hiking before, and it worked really well.

My fall back suggestions. Slik Pro 700 dx legs and now Sirui K-30x (maybe K-20x but not a big dif in price) head. This is a sturdy and largish set up, not a lightweight or more recent sort of design on the legs. The Sirui N-2004x aluminum legs would push up past $300 with that head but they are a more recent set, lighter (I think, didn't look), 4 section so more compact collapsed, back folding legs so again, more compact collapsed, rapid (not rotating legs) and twist locks versus fliplocks on the Slik.

I'd also suggest a good Arca Swiss compatible plate or even L bracket but that's going to push over the top again. The Sirui provided plate is OK but if like that with the K-40x, it's a rubber top plate and has some give. I haven't noticed any negative issues in use but I haven't used it in a particularly demanding situations yet.

Have you looked into the Induro line? I use a 1 series ($300) and for most of what you want, it would work great. For $50 more, you can get a 2 series, with a little more heft. 2 series lin ked here:

It sounds like there's no "standard" at this price range for tripods. I will have to go through all of these recommendations and decide what is best for me. Thanks!

The Slik 700 Pro that Craig mentioned is a very sturdy and well built tripod. You can pick them up for $100 at Kenkodepot.com. The also have referbs from time to time for $70. Fantastic product for the money.

If you'd like Carbon Fiber, check the Benro site. They are typically half the cost of other brands. I just sold my Slik 700 Pro as my gear is heavier than it's 15 pound rating... Bought a 55 pound rated carbon fiber Benro unit for $530.
