Distortion Control Data version 2 (2.013) was released today by Nikon.

This is the firmware update for compatible cameras that complements the software update released last week (https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1410483).

OS X El Capitan 10.11.2 is officially supported, but it works without problems on 10.11.3 as well. Finally on Macs it no longer tries to install something but mounts a disk image from which the BIN file can be copied to the card.

I normally go right ahead and install these firmware updates. Shooting D810 now.

But I'm hesitating. I have two Sigma Art lenses...does anyone think that the firmware update may affect these lenses? (I do have the Sigma dock.)

If you shoot NEF you don't really need it.
This update should not have an impact on third-party lenses (it is not an update for the main firmware), but I'm not 100% sure

So, can we be comfortably confident that one company wouldn't interfere with the performance of another company's products through its firmware updates, if you get my meaning?

Always a concern, that's where multiple bodies...can serve beyond backup roles.

No, we can't even be comfortably confident that a company wouldn't interfere with the performance of its OWN products through its firmware updates, if you know what I'm sayin'
