This was true on the V1 and V2. Starting with V3 they made the lens brighter (smallest aperture is now f/2.8) and reduced its zoom range to 70mm. Also, for static subjects you can use the camera's burst mode to stack images to reduce noise.

Oh, thanks for that piece of information. That makes this camera much more interesting to me

Even at the "normal" end of the range there is a great deal of difference in the size and weight of APS-C and full frame lenses compared to those for MFT cameras.

Nikon 14-24mm 35.2 oz. and 3.8" x 5.2"
Nikon 16-35mm 24 oz. and 3.2" x 4.9"
Olympus 7-14mm f2.8 (FX 14-28mm) 18.7 oz. and 3.1" x 4.2"

Nikon 24-70mm weighing 31. 7 oz, and size of 3.3" x 5.2"
Olympus 12-40mm f2.8 (FX 24-80) weighing 13.5 oz. and size of 2.75" x 3.3"

Nikon 70-200mm f2.8 at 54.4 oz. and 3.4" x 8.1"
Olympus 40-150mm f2.8 (80-300mm f2.8 FX) at 31 oz. and 3.1" x 6.3"

With these three commonly used zoom lenses the Nikon kit is going to weigh 6.9 lbs while the Olympus kit is going to weigh 3.9 lbs for a savings of 3 pounds with the Olympus kit. Add in the one-third reduction in bulk and the Olympus kit becomes even more attractive. The optical quality of the Olympus Pro f2.8 constant aperture lenses is the equal of the Nikon lenses and I have both sets to compare.

If weight is important the Nikon 18-35mm f3.5G lens is sharper than the 16-35mm f4 VR lens and weighs 10 ounces less as well. The 18-35mm lens also takes the usual 77mm size filters.

+1

Sold my 16-35 and love the 18-35.
Of course there is no free lunch and the trade offs for the weight saving include no VR, no 16mm and no nano - but I never think twice about keeping it in the bag.
The 18-35 complements the 14-24 nicely though personally I have a Sigma 15mm fisheye and a Rokinon 14mm for when 18 isn't wide enough.

Thank You for all suggestions...

Olympus M.ZUIKO Digital ED 7-14mm f/2.8 - $1,099.00 - (534 g)
Olympus 12-40mm f2.8 - $799.00 - (382 g)
Olympus 40-150mm f2.8 - $1,299.00 - (880 g)

Weight looks fine but for total - 3197 + cost of FX body I will get Sony RX100iii + Ticket to New Zealand

I am more than happy with Canon and Nikon ( I did use Olympus E510 long time ago, but 2 systems I have right now is more than enough

I've got the Sony rx100 (no longer use) and rx100III and I haven't taken a dslr on vacation in YEARS. Yes there are times when my d800e would be ideal, but you can't beat the compactness of the rx100III. Did I mention the image quality. The thing is amazing! I'm hoping the newest version will be have a better lens and sensor in the same package. I travel a lot and rarely miss my d800e.

I've got the Rx100MII and a D610, and I love both of them.
Of course the D610 has better image quality and it is easier to get the shot right, but my Nikon kit is a backpack and the RX100 fits in my pocket.

Here's a couple of shots for comparison. There are others on my Flickr page.

I had the first gen and loved it on a hong kong trip my wife and took a few years ago. I've since sold it and wouldn't miss it if I went on another vacation as my Nexus 6p (probably same for any current phone camera) is just as 90% as good IQ wise and pano's are way easier.

I've had RX100 I for 3 years now and used Nikon DSLR's for less than a year (D5300 and D750). RX100 is an amazing beast and I have it on me almost all the time when I'm not carrying a DSLR.

Colors are not as good as Nikon's.
Object separation is not good comparable to a DSLR.
In low light it takes a few images and then composes them. The processing can take several seconds. The result is not good if the subject is moving even slowly.
Using manual mode is not too difficult because you've got an apperture ring on the lens but if you want to change flash mode, HDR and similar things you have to use the Fn button and it's a pain.

If my RX100 breaks I think I'll get a Fujifilm or at least will try it.

I get my new rx100 iii , and just installed small grip today. Will try some shots next week. All I need is good quality photos ( better than cell phone)
I know I will not get anything like D810 photos. But size is perfect - so I am sure I will carry always when needed, what is a pain with big DSLR
