These are excellent, thanks for sharing!

I'm still holding onto my Canon 100-400 II as I haven't been able to get out with my 200-500 as much as I want. The more I see from the 200-500, and the soon-to-be-released D500, the Canon gear may be going bye-bye soon. Decisions, decisions.

Hi Birdie, pretty darn good set and I'm glad you posted this set due to me trying to decide whether a 200-500 is in my future. I'd agree with Eric and Morris, very good shots but there might be more definition without the TC and you can certainly crop big time with the D810. Given all of that it has to be a pleasure to be able to shoot handheld 500mm plus without any real issues. Very nicely done.

Thanks so much Louie. I am definitely enjoying the lens.

Thanks for the article Tony. If I knew what I was doing I would test with my D810 .

The angst that goes with the decisions ! The D500 seems to be calling my name , have resisted the preorder button so far.

Thank you. On a few I did not post it looked like maybe a bit of front focusing , need to put it on a tripod with proper target and see.

The bottom line is that he says using a TC gives better results IF the TC is used on a top quality lens. That would explain why those using them on lenses such as 300 f2.8, 400mm f2.8, 500 f4, etc., say they notice very little or no degradation to the image when using one. With a poor quality lens, the TC just magnifies the weaknesses of such lenses.

Thanks Tony. I am happy with the way the TC pairs with the lens. On the Nikon forum , someone just posted some shots with 1.7 TC.

Detail looks very good in these Birdie, no doubt you can improve it even further with a fine tuning.
You've done excellent work with the new 300 & TC @ 420mm, but more reach is always good and I'm very happy for you that you can handhold the new lens to get that reach.
Love #1, bokeh looks good too.
