Looking for some place other than Bosque for birds. Nothing wrong with Bosque but I've been there. Suggestions? Doesn't have to be Texas either. But some place in the south. Thanks in advance.

Platte River area near Kearney, NE. ?
Check out the Rowe Sanctuary there. Best time is mid- to late March.

I've been to this event and enjoyed it. They have blinds set up fairly close to the cranes, and people walk out quietly before dawn to await the birds' take-off. I'll tell you it gets COLD in those blinds (they're masonry brick structures with square unglassed windows facing the water) so be prepared. You have to sign up ahead of time. If you're lucky you'll get to see a flock of snow geese in the fields if something provokes them to take flight.
