Can anyone tell me what the difference is between Nikon's 10-30mm lenses? The original 10-30mm lens is older, but is there any advantage to using the PD lens over the non PD lens? Also can the PD lens be used with the V1 and V2 or only with new 1 series bodies like the V3?

I believe the PD lens has a motor for the zoom and was brought out for video use. I would think it's compatible with all Nikon1 bodies, but I'd call Nikon and ask before buying one.

Yes you can use them on the V1 or V2.

They are power zoom lenses, so they are nearly silent and ideal for video use. You'll also notice they do not take any filters. For general photography I think it is far better to use the standard 10-30 with it's manual zoom and filter compatibility. The 10-30VR is actually a pretty decent little lens.
