Not sure what genus this creature is, but he(or she) posed for me in a small Virginia town. As a photographer, I sometimes feel like I want to be a "fly on the wall", observing unnoticed and photographing unseen. Maybe that's why I took this photo. Ever feel that way?

not a terribly appealing subject, but yes, I have felt that way!
I like how you positioned the bug in the frame.
Beyond that, not a strong first reaction, engagement. But then I looked more closely at the back of this thing. And now I see a well-defined head of hair on top, coming to a point over two eyes, some flat lips. Spooky!

I have a picture of his cousin living in my front yard. Your friend is probably just looking for a nice place to live. Mine chose a flower.

I believe that's what we call here a stink bug.

Nah, that isn't one of those flyby bastards.

Stink bugs are some of the few insects that for some reason love to make a crash course directly for heads.

Steve, PM with where whereabouts in the state you are!

This little Stinker didn't pose for long. He bugged out on me. Thanks everyone for your comments. Warming up a little this weekend. Should be a good time to go shooting.

I didn't know I was photographing such an infamous character. Maybe I should have squished him.😁

Yup, this looks like the same bug that was dining on my roses, but my photo was only a silhouette of the bug.
