I have a Canon 11-24 and am considering getting a Lee SW150II filter system for it.
Can anyone who has this system for the 11-24 confirm whether or not the SW150II can be used with other lenses such as the 24-70 2.8 or the 70-200 2.8?

Yes, if you can find an adapter small enough. I believe there is a 77 mm one but why would you want to use such a huge filter on a 77 mm lens? There are much smaller alternatives.

Thanks,

My reasoning is cost. I don't want to have to invest in a separate set of filters for my 11-24 and another set for my other lenses. I would prefer to have 1 set that covers all my lenses.

Does the Lee Filter System even work with the 11-24mm? How would it attach? From what I saw on their website it eludes to using a screw-on type of attachment. The inside of the hood has ridges designed for the lens cap but they are not threads and the ring around the front element is smooth.

Yes, they do a specific version of the SW150II adapter that has been designed to fit to the 11-24. The SW150II takes Lee's range of 150mm filters.

The SW150 Mark II system can be used with the 11-24 but :

at the extremely wide angle of view, the SW150 filter holder ( will vignette ) at the widest angles. To avoid this they recommend using a minimum focal length at 13.5mm

when using the filter holder with two filter slots at 12.5mm

I have this SW 150 mkII complete system and yes they have the adapter for that lens. I use 17 TSE lens extensively now with LEE.

The SW150II system works with screw adapters to fit the lens filter threads, I have the 82mm ring, they are large and all metal/a few can be seen on this page adapters

I have the 11-24mm with the SW150 system (picked up both the hard and soft ND grad sets, as well as the .45 hard/soft ND grads, and the big/little stoppers), and absolutely love it. I don't try to zoom wider than 14mm with the lens to avoid vignetting.

I also picked up the adaptor for the 17 TSE and am now able to use the big/little stoppers and shift the lens.

I have been going through the pain of carrying around two filter systems and had been on a wait list with B&H for the past 6 weeks for the adaptor rings to be able to use the SW150 system on other lenses. I just received these Friday night, so don't know yet how i'll like them. If i like the adaptor rings, i'll probably end up selling my other lee filters, as I like the SW150 hood a lot better, as i find that it is attached more firmly than the original hood. The original hood has fallen off at times when something bumps against it. The SW150 hood screws more firmly in place.

For those that have the SW150 adaptor ring, for the 11-24mm lens, are you using the neoprene hood supplied by Lee

Up to now i've been reluctant to use the neoprene hood, but its a real pain assembling the adaptor everytime i want to use the lens. I'm just concerned whether the neoprene adaptor will actually protect the lens from scratches or more likely smudges while transporting the lens in my camera bag.

I'd really appreciate hearing back from those that are using the neoprene hood and leave the Lee adaptor ring permanently attached to the 11-24mm lens.
