Anyone have any hints for photographing the Sandhill cranes at Jasper-Pulaski Fish & Wildlife Area? I am thinking about going next week.

Thanks for your help.

You might want to check if the Sandhill Cranes are still there. The best times to photograph them are at sunrise and sunset when they leave to feed in the fields and return to roost in the large field in front of the viewing stand. You might want to check e-bird for sightings or call Jasper Pulaski before you make the trip this time of year to see how many are there.

The best advice would be to position the
sun directly behind you, which means that you will not be on the observation platform. The cranes fly in from all directions so you want the sun shining at them to get the underwings lit up.
