They were putting up picnic tables inside the shop while I was there on Tuesday (Whoa Nelly Deli) because all of the regular tables were taken. I had the Grilled Salmon Salad with Raspberry Vinigarette and my friend had a "to die for" creamy sherry soup and grilled vegetable sandwich. We both thought it was the best we'd ever had.

A yummy day of photography and good food in the middle of nowhere. Does it get better than that ?!!

You make me drool now. God, this thread has became a food thread...which I'm not complaining since I'm a gourmet food enthutiast. I'm going to post a few more images...that I took by June Loop.

Now, back to the photographs. I very much like the treatment you gave #1. Not converting the center line to B&W was very effective in the otherwise dramatic scene. Of the tufas, I like Broken Window best.

Thanks for the comment on #1. It seemed natural for me to do that. I wasn't sure at first but immediately after doing it, I was sure it is the best use of color + B&W.

I had the delicious baby back ribs at the Tioga Pass Mobil station and someone was having a wedding reception there!!

I thought it was odd seeing a wedding reception in a gas station.

Msoo, I like Middle Earth the best.

Wow, a wedding reception in the gas station? Well, I bet those wedded couple loves good food. ;-)

BTW, you're the only person so far who like Middle Earth. I like it a lot too.

Just processed a few more. No, the ones in Bodie still need to be processed. Here goes...

These are fragile "Sand Tufa". Everyone told me to be careful and don't touch them as they are supposed disintegrate when you touch them but I poke at it and it was as solid as a rock. So, what gives?

June Lake Loop. Beautiful drive. I wish I'm test driving one of the latest BMW on that road. You know, the part where they fly by a bunch of autumn trees with fall leaves on the road and the leaves just flies up in the air when the car zoom passes... Ok, I'm dreaming.

A little different type of Autumn Aspen image.

Michael, I was at Mono last sunday and looked at that same common grass and said to myself "naw that won't look good" how wrong I was. Good job on all of those, hope I got somthing near as nice as yours.

Hi Doug, who did you go with? Is it a workshop? I think it's the blue sky backdrop that compliments the color...

- MS

Nope no workshop (allthough I could use the help). I just wanted too go up and get the fall color being inspired by the posts around here. The weather was to be partly cloudy for the next few days and the leaves were said to be peaking so I told my boss see ya on next Wednesday and drove up on Saturday. I did Bodie most of the creeks around and went up to the Bristlecones (allways wanted to do that). I might have tried to do to much but it was beautifull up there.

If I were to be picky, I'd say:
-the cloud in Hephaistos' Tufa looks overexposed. I'd remove the cloud.

Would you mind telling me how you use this dodging/burning method you mentioned?

Thanks. You are right about the clouds. It has been bothering me for quite a bit now. Thanks for pointing it out. I wrote a guide on burning late last night. I hope it will help you. It will make your ugly "almost" overblown sky to a nice dramatic one like such:

2.5 3 hours I guess if you went from on to the other. I stayed in Mammoth Lakes and broke up the drive Hot Creek, Bishop Creek and a couple other excurtions, then up to Bristlecone. But oh what a drive.

This had to be a wild horse.
