p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Large Fruit Fly?

I am unsure of what this fly was. I am calling it a large fruit fly but it was at least twice the size of a Drosophila. It was on a Loganberry in August. I had considerable difficulty with getting good shooting angles and with getting lighting past the foliage.

For the above reason, no single image does quite what I would have liked but these have some merit. All have been cropped moderately

EM-1 Printing Nikkor 105mm at f11, flash, hand-held.

Great detail Harold. Those white areas may be from too much flash, just a little NIT.

Thanks. I see what you mean but it lacks the general fuzzy/furry appearance..

Morris, Thanks.

Yes, I probably had to change the angle to more direct than usual, just to get some light between the leaves between the lens and the fly.

Thanks, Ron and Brian.

It is reassuring to know that this, small and light, Printing Nikkor, is a good substitute for the huge and heavy 150mm.

It looks very much like Suillia pallida but there may be other, similar species.
