Despite some rumors, the original 100-400 could capture BIF shots. I know there are many better shots than mine out there because my tracking abilities are dismal. The IS also could give good results even at 1/10 sec.

Feel free to post your better BIF shots from the old zoom.

P.S. And I would expect the original 100-400 would work a lot better with a 7D2, 5D3, and 1DX than it would with a 20D, 7D, etc.

Sure it can, but the 100-400 IS lens' AF struggled to keep up with moving subjects in certain conditions. If I posted images, I could find some OOF.
The 100-400 II is so much better at AF and most everything else, but the old push-pull zoom was better for some hand held purposes.

Patrick, that would have been on Westpoint Island, October 22, 2014. Later that day, we landed on Saunder's Point, but I think that pictures was on Westpoint.
