I'm interested in this lens because of the reasonable price and size. Wondering about performance, both optically and mechanically. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thx.

Looks like a great alternative to the Sigma Art. I'd be interested in reading some real user reviews, too.

Here is a review by a fellow FM member. It was tested on the Sony A7RII but it's a good indication of how the lens would perform on the Nikon.

Thread here: https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1384098/4?b=2

Depend on how 'real world' you want:

Sigma still looks to just take it in sharpness and CA is better controlled. Tamron is smaller and lighter despite having VR apparently.

This is helpful, thanks for the link. I'm going to give it a go and see If it works for me.

Thanks. I don't need the absolute best IQ... Really good seems good enough, and I'd rather save the size over the sigma. The sealing is a plus as well.

So I checked this lens out. It's very nice but the size surprised me. It was pretty much the size of like a 35L. I took a set of quick snaps and blew 'em up and yes, it's very nice. But the size put me off a bit, as did the servo performance which wasn't quite as good as, for instance, the 28 1.8 in a documentary/people type setting. AF was quick and accurate in single shot. Overall not the lens for me, but a nice piece of equipment.
