Thanks so much Brian, glad you like the artsy one. I never am sure how these will be received.
It is not hard to do . The technique is using textures. I started with the dahlia photo, added a texture layer . Removed the texture at different opacities to help blend the flower in. I then added a different texture on top and more blending. Hummingbird was then added , more texture , more blending ,etc. When I get the texture as I like, then some normal processing, maybe lighting certain areas, etc.
I tried making the different textures , and well need to work on that skill . I found a site that you can purchase textures with license to use them. They even have some for no cost.

It is a lot of fun, like painting with texture . If anyone wants more specific details, just let me know.
I reworked and moved the stem as some were telling me the position of the stem was pushing the flower too far in the frame. Originally when I rotated the flower , the stem ending up being to the side.
