Technique: I injected artificial nectar into an Eggplant flower so the bumblebee would have a reason to let me get close. I'm holding on to the flower's stem with my left index finger and thumb, and resting the lens on that same hand to keep everything steady. One of the advantages to shooting with extension tubes is that the working distance is reduced. Better specular highlights and shorter flash duration because the flash is closer to the subject. The color is due to the quality of the light (I didn't have to push the saturation in post).

Tech Specs: Canon 70D (F11, 1/125, ISO 200) + a Canon EF-S 60mm macro lens with 25mm of extension + a diffused MT-24EX (flash head "A" set as the key and "B" as the fill). These are single, uncropped, frames taken hand held.

John,

Excellent results and colour combinations.

(For those unfamiliar with Eggplants (Aubergines) the flowers normally face downwards).
