p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Show Focal Point on image - HOW?

Someone once posted an image that showed which focal point was active/engaged when the shutter was released. How is this done?

Thanks!

I see that you shoot Canon. Canon DPP software can do this. Go to Tools/AF Point Settings and set to "Only Points in Focus." Then go to View/AF Points to place a check mark in front of this to be able to view the AF points.

(For Nikon shooters, Nikon software can show the AF point. I bet all camera manufacturer's software can show the AF point for their brand of camera.)

Aperture can view AF points.

For Lightroom, there is a plug-in here:

Dpp shows which was the last user selected active AF point, it does not show actually used Af point (expanded mode, or Af PT switching).

There is also a free plug in for Lightroom. It works OK in a pinch but I find it slow to use for each photo. You can Google it.

I think this answers your question from my own perspective.

I recently discovered that my LR plug in isn't working properly.
All I get is back image saying it can't read the jpg.
It had worked fine last month,.
I even deleted and regenerated all the Previews.
Any ideas?
The plug on version, nor camera, nor Lightroom version has changed on my system.

I have the same issue and here's how I solved it:

Load the image and when you get the "cannot read" message, simply wait a few seconds and then load it again (starting over). It has worked for me every time.
