You are correct in this image that the face closest the camera appears out of focus. The interesting thing is as I view the image in different sizes his face changes from focused to blurr and a lot in between. I'm sure my eye is playing some tricks on it, and no doubt his face isn't focused as much as I'd like, but to my eye it changes around.
Interesting enough is that this was at the end of our shoot. This is section of river only accessible by private property so there was no one else down there and we were able to enjoy it. After taking all the photos we wanted the kids were playing and I was snapping candid type pics with the 56mm f/1.2 mounted. As we were ready to leave a couple kids decided to take a break sitting in the grass. I saw it, yelled for the others to join, and literally ran across the river rock to get that framed the way I wanted. This was literally the last shot of the day.
I may have to print the 8x10 despite the blurr and see how it looks. Really want this hanging on the wall.
