p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · I just can't fix this in LR. Any suggestions?

Taken with an Olympus lens and a Raynox DC250 macro adapter which, as it turns out, had some spec on it's exterior surface that I simply didn't notice at the time. To frame right, in the blue, there's a spot that I can't clone out and can't brush away (so far) because of the intensity of the color and its gradation.

No matter what I do, there is some artifact left behind that is even more noticeable than the spec itself.

Any ideas?

Clone it in Photoshop?

Do you think that would yield better results than cloning in LR?

I'd bet PS Content Aware Fill would fix that in a jiffy. Those gradations are hard to match

Thanks! I'll dust off my PS skills tonight and give it a go.

just do a select of the area (do NOT do a tight selection, make it loose) and then Edit -> Fill -> Content Aware. At the very least, it usually gives a good starting point.

Oh, it's a very heavy brass wind chime/sculpture in a garden at my parent's house.

Since I don't currently have a dedicated macro lens, I've been using the Olympus 75mm 1.8 with Raynox DC250 adapter (which clearly I need to clean).

Makes for very interesting effects, but the problem is if there's even the teensiest of breezes, everything becomes a ridiculous challenge.

I looked around after having had enough of that, saw the wind chime and thought "Oh. That doesn't move."

I just tried it quickly and content aware isn't really doing the best job. maybe could make it do better w more effort.

more success w/ a big 12px radius gaussian blur layer that is masked for everything but the spot.

Are you sure it is on the lens? Most of the time anything on the lens is so out of focus that it doesn't show up in the image. Dust on the sensor, on the other hand...

Yup. Pretty sure. All the shots I took w/no adapter don't have the spot, and in 5 years of using M43 cameras, for whatever reason, I have never, not once, had a dust spot.

My wife and her FF Canons, however, are a totally different story.....

Looks great! Thanks, I'll give it a go in just a bit.

Hi Mjollnir

If you want to stay in LR there is another angle to try. Use the adjustment brush with all settings at 0 except sharpness and clarity. Set those to the most negative value and brush over the areas of question. If one adjustment is insufficient, add another brush adjustment over the top of that. It works pretty well. Hope that is helpful.

Thanks, John. I actually tried that last night and it worked!
