Last two weeks and next are full with matches. They put new lights in this year which I appreciated BUT in typical school fashion nobody made sure they were pointed correctly thus we have a very dark corner which could have been avoided. Interesting twist is that the new lights present an all together different set of scenarios one has to deal with in PP. Bottom line, cycling lights suck, new or old
Here are a few submitted for your C&C

1. Yeah, a JV game with sun!!!

2. Push'in 'the rules' under the lights

3. Decent jube shot ?

4. Argh, high ISO & cycling lights take forever in PP

5. ...more argh!

Matt,
Real nice job on skin and unis color in PP.
Not much you can do with the yellowish/greenish/neonish glow of the turf. I have noticed this a lot when I shoot daytime but Backlot, the grass/turf really glows despite good WB of player.

I think when we view it live, our brain must apply some additional perception that we don't dwell on it as much. Or maybe, our eyes are not dilated enough to change perceptive WB for the player and hence we are observing the brightness.

Hey Chris, yup that is what I was thinking. The AD was so proud to come and tell me they finally fixed and replaced all the lights but whoever the contractor was they did a poor job positioning them to cover the field properly or at least more evenly. Center of the field IMO is overloaded at the expense of the dungeon like corners.

Guy, thanks!

CW, thanks!

About as good as you can get at those ISO settings.

The 7D2 is supposed to have flicker detect to help with the cycling lights. Of course that be at the expensive of FPS. I have never really given it a try, but others say it works. Maybe on the next 1DX?

Hey Don,

So far, the reviews I've read seem to suggest it has a limited success rate in dealing with cycling lights. That's not to say it wouldn't be helpful though. There are growing rumors of a pending 1DX-II so I certainly wouldn't mind them adding it, just as long as its use can be determined by the user.

On the 7D2 it is user enabled/disabled. I have never enabled.
