Beautiful, Kent.
I wondered about a bit off the right to just to the right of the building but the slightly greater asymmetry you have chosen is better.
Fine work!
Scott

Thanks Scott,

I wrestled a bit with some of the symmetry / balance / weighting before landing here. Glad to hear that the (slight) asymmetry is doing its thing. I tend to think of it is a bit of a three-way, tug-o-war, balancing act between the tonal values vs. lines vs. the hues.

A possible more conventional crop and a little straightening of the silo?

Nice one Kent, I like your crop but would straighten the silo.

Thanks Ben,

Yeah, lazy on my part ... and Karen's no help at letting it slide.

Actually, if you check my version, you'll find I straightened it. 'Just didn't mention it.

BTW, I got tricky straightening it. I didn't rotate the whole image. I made a selection with the rectangular selection tool and used edit/transform/skew to straighten just the silo.

I noticed, but I was gonna let it slide ... till SOMEBODY got picky with me. (But hey, no free pass huh?)

Actually, I shoulda taken care of that before posting. Nice tip btw @ selection tool / skew.

Nah ... just sheer laziness.

These are just jpg drafts, not finished products from raw, so I don't always tackle every piece (lazy, lazy, lazy) when I know I might be redoing it in raw anyway. Besides, if I hadn't left it a bit askew ... we wouldn't have gotten the "selection" tip from Karen. I guess you oughta thank me for not straightening it first, huh?

This is true! You probably subconsciously didn't straighten on purpose, right?

Oh, no, nothing subconscious about it at all.

I KNEW ... I was slacking on purpose (lazy as charged).

Very nice shot Kent! Of course the rich colors had me from hello but I really like the calm farm vibe this has. I can almost hear the moo-moo's saying good night and a whippoorwill calling in the distance.

My only nit (other than what others pointed out) is the crop. Feels a little too long and the extra empty space on the right doesn't offer much. Maybe not as far as Karen's crop edit but rather to the peak of the roof on the far right?

What a calming photograph. My stress level went down just looking at it.

Indeed, a pretty image.

Here's my "Just Right" crop.

Distorted the whole image by dragging the top right corner a little bit to the left. This leaves the silo leaning just a little, to "artfully enhance the off-center placement.." (Or some BS like that... ) Heck, It "looks right" to me, which probably means ...

Also added a hint of large-radius USM and Gimp's high frequency "Wavelet sharpening."

I much like the wider pano crop, for me it flows better Kent.
The only thing that bugs me a bit is what appears to be a power line that runs from the trees over to the silo, it just kind of distracts for me the nice fence rail area.
Nice soothing time of the evening

Karl

Thanks guys.

+1 @ crop variations. Probably would have been easier to chose a crop, if the silo wasn't so "centric" and cropping the right just moved it even more centric.

Who wants reality when you can do the old splice and stretch-a-stretch-a.

Nice "out of the box" approach, on the stretch.
