Earlier this month I travelled to the Satsop Nuclear Power Plant in Western Washington. The plant was never completed and sits around 78% complete. I had the chance to go into the plant and capture some timelapse shots on my two Nikon D810s and a motion control rig. The place was pretty amazing and I felt like I was on an alien ship or something. Anyway, here's the video.

A little over 6,000 frames for this piece. There are a couple shots I didn't use and some that run longer. For the total location shutter count I think its something around 8,000 RAW frames. Timelapse puts a lot of milage on the shutters thats for sure.

Wow!!! That is great!!! It is difficult to imagine the size of that thing... especially with very few points of comparison... However, the one with stairs, really show its humongous size

The majority of the shots were done in one 8 hour day. Two of them were shot outside of that day. It was a lot of work. Having 128GB cards helps quite a bit.

Thanks. It was crazy being in there. The acoustics in there were very strange.

That is amazing. One of the best time-lapse videos I've seen.

Looks like that thing was a great use of taxpayer money.

Thanks. Yeah the bond default was over a billion dollars on this. Second largest in US history.

great way to increase your click count on the D810 bodies

ruins of this scale are quite rare.

Yeah, my D810s get quite a work out as I really only use them for timelapse. This location was very cool and I'm hoping to go back there soon because there are plenty of shots to get that I just didn't have time for.
