This is the pothole of Neon Canyon in the Escalante Grand Staircase.
I shot this with 4x5 Velvia and a 150mm Sironar, I really think that film
does this location more justice than what I have been able to get from digital.

Long hike with a lot of gear in the spring heat but well worth the effort.
I really am lucky to have been living so close to all of these areas. I tend to take it for granted.

Beautiful color and light from a great location.

Must have been fun hiking that gear down Fence Canyon and across the river through the brush.

Well worth the effort.

This is really enjoyable, Robert. I love that place. Quite the hike with gear, I know.

Thanks for the comments.

What really drains me is the tripod /head combo. It pushes 13lbs although I really don't have to worry about electronics much.

I never would have taken my Hasselblad H3-50 to a lot of these places, especially the subway from the top.

I must have been nuts doing this solo in retrospect.

Very cool shot ! Great place to shoot I imagine, very atmospheric. Hardly looks like film if I'm honest

I can usually pick out the film shots as I see a different contrast structure in film. The digital almost always looks tighter in comparison. The other thing I notice is the red rendering of film vs how sensors render subtle tones in red.

It is all good though as I make good images with both mediums and I constantly say I am not shooting any more film yet bounce to and fro.

Robert,
Very Nice exposure on this scene. Is this Velvia 50?
I like both mediums too, but have started shooting film the last few years.
Really like the feel of the images, whether it's in the contrasts or the colors.

Thanks for posting.

Dan,

Thanks again .

This is the RVP -50. I never warmed up to the 100 as I liked Kodak better for the 100 films.

I think that the thing I liked most about film was that it was sort of predetermined how the exposure was going to look by the film choice and there was no "making" the image in post. It was sort of like you got it or you didn't. Actually I hated that too as it was a complete loss if you didn't get it.

Hah, what a conundrum.
