p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Milky Way, Stars, and Haystack at the Cannon Beach

After taking those shots of the sunset at the Cannon Beach upon arrival, I went out to the Cannon Beach Village for a dinner.
Waiting for another two hours or so, I went back to the beach for the night shooting.

The moon would be rising later.. so the beach was pitch black dark. It was rather difficult to find the place to take pictures.
Inch by inch, foot by foot, I approached to the Haystack after taking test shots.

There were some clouds still hanging around from the afternoon sunset time. Otherwise the sky was very clear.
I had enough stars and could see the Milky Way spreading half circle in the sky.

I took vertical shots to show the Milky Way going straight up from the Haystack. But I cut those areas top and bottom to show more of the Haystack Rock.

Here is my Milky Way, Stars, and the Haystack at the Cannon Beach, Oregon!

I hope you enjoy!! :-)

I love it Kee !

However I think your WB is off kilter, too warm, and it would be good if you could bring down the highlights of the buildings at the far end of the beach (or even PP them out altogether) ?

Yes, I am working on the color of this image and will post a revised one as soon as I can manage. Currently I am busy domestically with my home improvement. I always appreciate your support for me to improve.

Very nice Kee. Well done; the WB suggestion is a good one. It will make a really good shot great.

Hello John Zeman and marcy45,

Thanks for your comments and feedback. I am glad to know that you enjoyed the image, John. Marcy, I am sure you will have a good chance getting the clear night for the starry shooting! Just beautiful Cannon Beach!

Very nice composition, Kee.
As Kevin "Frogfish" noted, color temp is too warm, should be around 4800K for the Milky Way.

Sasha.

Nice image! I would not say your white balance is off. It may be what you want. But it is off for my particular taste and I think it might soar even better with a cool rendering. But having said that, I like it as is.
