Can't imagine what such a lens would cost, but very cool.

Thanks for posting that. I can imagine that the price will be right up there with the regular 600mm ii.

But then it should be possible to have both it and the 200-400 in the bag without breaking my back.

And will you use it to shoot pijuns or Great Blue Herons?

If you have to ask the price, it's not for you ;-)

Impressive prototype, but I would much prefer a smaller and affordable DO prime like the Nikon 4/300VR. The current Canon 4/300IS could use updated optics, IS and AF and lose some size/weight...

400/4 DO II is less than 400/2.8L II...

Please remind me, what does that f/2.8 600mm L lens cost?

Looking forward to more information as it becomes available, especially physical specs like size and weight. If Canon do release both a 600/4 DO and an 800/5.6 DO, it will make for an interesting choice between the two. Yes, I know, first world problems.

I have an order in for the 400 DO ll. I'm thinking of canceling now and waiting for the 600.

Oh, come on! That's it, Canon! I've had it with your macho head games!

Just when I'm thinking that my gear is good to go for the forseeable future (barring the occasional 120 MPX camera), you drop this on the show floor. Man. I should go back to MF film, whatever that was.

With that small size (really looks neat), Canon could build a 2.8 that would be manageable and take advantage 2.8 AF sensors.

That photo of the 600/4 DO with the reversed hood looks like my 200/1.8L with some kind of recessed hood. Talk about old-school.

I'd like to see a profile image of the 600/4 DO with hood in shooting position. I just can't afford to get another lens bag.

I'm guessing that a 400 DO III BR is in the works
