While the Eastern Sierra area in California is truly a photographers paradise, after so many years of visiting, it's increasingly difficult to find new and exciting subjects. For me, I've grown tired of the thin and fractal nature of most of the aspen trees in the area. I've been jealous of the Colorado shooters and their nice straight-trunked tall aspens. But I recently ran across a grove that has a small bit of what I was after, up in the White Mountains. This scene is way down a 4x4 trial off the Crooked Creek Road and actually in the end of Cottonwood Basin towards Nevada. I was happy being with this family of aspen for a couple of days of pure solitude.
