Photographing bears can be exhilarating....but unfortunately on rear occasions deadly.

The first and recent incident at Yellowstone may not have have involved a photographer, but the Denali incident from 2012 did.
So how close does one need to be to "fill the frame"? The NPS at Denali recommends staying 1/4 mile from bears. For a decent photograph, that would seem to be a bit far even with a super-tele and a lot of crop.
So what is your "comfort zone" ?
This guy was about 50 meters away.....and that was close enough for me.
SOOC. He knows I'm there....and I know my car is two steps behind me.
With heavy crop. I got a decent shot...and a chance to go again another day.
