I'm looking for a day hike backpack that can handle my D810 with a Tamron 15-30 + 150-600. It'd be nice if I could also bring my Nikon 24-120 F4 VR. I'd be packing a few batteries and I'd like to be able to bring my tripod attached to the backpack. Ideas? I don't mind buying new vs used. So if you've got a bag, shoot me a pm. Ive got cash burning a hole in my pocket. Going to Yellowstone next week so I'm buying his bag ideally before I leave.

I don't have a bag for sale, but check out Gura Gear. I bought the Kiboko backpack and it is excellent. The build quality and features are as good as it gets. Relatively lightweight as well. Check the dimensions. I am sure they have one that will swallow your 150-600.

For cheap you might look into the Amazon Basics backpack. It's only $40 which you can't beat.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00CF5OGP8/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1439170354&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SY200_QL40&keywords=camera+backpack+amazon+basics&dpPl=1&dpID=41PVpRBm9xL&ref=plSrch

Here's a what's in my bag to get an idea of what you can cram in it.

I picked up a couple of bags from f-stop and have been very happy with them. They are very comfortable and with the back access, I can even keep the pack on my waist and get out my gear if I am standing in a wet or mucky area.

My wife and I use two different backpacks. We moved away from the ThinkTank Street-Walker systems to the following:
Tamy carries D300, D610, Fuji X100 cameras, 300 f4 AFS, 24-85AFS VR, 50mm f1.8 AFS G, harddrive and flash in an F-Stop Tilopa w/ Large Pro ICU. She could get the same ICU in a Loca pack, but she likes the extra space for a jacket and food. See the F-stop system here: http://shop.fstopgear.com/us/product/mountain.html

I carry a D800E, D7200(gipped), 200-400mm f4 VR, 17-35mm AFS f2.8, 105 f2.8 micro in a Mens Freerider Pro 30. See link here: http://trekpak.com/mens-freerider-pro-30/

In both of our cases we had two primary goals... 1: comfortable load distribution for hikes in both hot weather and cold weather. 2: easily fit into plane carry-on limited space. The Freerider Pro fits under mosts plane seats and the F-Stop bag has a removable ICU that fits under seats as well.

As for comfort, both are technical packs and thus very comfortable to wear on long hikes.
regards,
bruce

I picked up a Lowepro Flipside Sport 15L for hiking and I confirmed before I bought it that it would fit a body with a Tamron 150-600 attached:

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/855680-REG/Lowepro_LP36423_PWW_Flipside_Sport_15L_AW.html

You see in the pics they have a 300 2.8 attached along with a couple smaller lenses.

I wanted something smaller and lighter than my Street Walker HD, as well as something I could quickly take things out of while on the trail, and this backpack has worked great for it! It's not as herky as the FStop or Guru bags, but it feels solid enough and comes at a reasonable price.
