I'm unsure of which A-S foot to get for the 200-400? The 4th Generations CRX-5 low or high look like good choices depending on whether there are clearance issues. I prefer the lowest profile as I'm not the tallest person in the vehicle. Does the hood interfere with these feet? Are there any other low profile feet? The RRS foot is ridiculously high and the Kirk foot is still rather large.

Thanks,
EBH

I use the crx5 low on it and it fits good with no issues. Highly recommended. I think the cr-80 works also but ask Petkal first.

I can confirm CR-80 works like a champ!

There you go, the Boys have spoken.

Mitesh might be able to tell you about the 200-400L gimbal balancing with CR-80 on it because I have never had the lens on a tripod, and that is not likely to happen soon either.

Sorry, I can't. I don't even own a gimbal .

crx-5 has no issues balancing on my gimbal, even with 1.4TCIII mounted also. I use the Jobu HD3 Gimbal.

Now I have both feet. Of course they charged me twice for the FedEx shipping, but stuffed both into a regular envelope.

The CR-80 looks sturdier to me with less hollowed out areas. However, the CRX-5 is shorter. Do you CRX-5 users attach it at the far end?

CRX-5, low mount. Attached as shown will enable balance with the 1DX +,- 1.4X and (as far as I can remember) the 5DIII on a Gimbal mount. Both before and After Mounts shots are shown

Don't know why Canon bother with their foot design. Must be tons of those lying uselessly around now.

Congrats.

Yes I use the furthest end for mine on 600II and 200-400.

So far I'm not too happy with the CRX-5. I'm not sure that it is entirely the culprit, but there is more vibration on a tripod than I would expect. Something must be flexing when I push down on the top of the lens.

That Wimberley foot looks more rigid, but it has no place to get a grip. It might work on a tripod, but I think the lens would be too low for vehicle use.

Reaching the zoom ring is difficult enough. I don't know why the trend for zooms is to put that ring in front of the focus ring.
