#1 & #2 are my favorites. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks. These two show well how the chicks learn to fend for themselves.

Great job on these Jonas, the interaction of the adult and offspring is rarely documented, heck I've never seen it before! The overly large size is a bit of a pain on anything other than a desktop

Thanks Tim. They were so preoccupied they hardly ever looked up to check their surroundings.

Great set. I enjoy seeing Oystercatchers. The bill and the legs on the juvenile is also slightly different; the bill dusky, and the legs not as deeply colored. I suspect that the brighter orange legs are part of the breeding colors? Nice to note differences. Carolyn
The deep red colour of the eyes and the bright orange of the bill developes in the first year.

Hi Jonas, the 1st and last for me. Very nice. Are they on someone's lawn? I've only seen our west coast Black Oystercatchers on rocks or the beach
Rex.
They hunt for worms in fields and lawns. These I found in a large field for horses. The Oyster catcher feeds on crustaceans by the see and also feeds on worms and insects he digs out of the ground with his sharp long beak. They bury their noses up to the hilt in grass when they plunge their beaks into the ground to catch what they hear moving underneath the surface.
