Taken with 1D Mark II N without PP.

Can you tell the difference between a cheap and expensive lens? Let's see how keen your eye is

I'll post answers by week's end.

I don't have a 3500px monitor so I can't see the pic, maybe post it smaller

So I'll say this: you have some flowers and some greenery far enough in the distance that would melt in the background even at f/5.6. So you're not close enough to need a macro, you're not in dire need of background separation and you just have a little something in the centre so you don't even need sharpness all round. So any of the above could have shot it and it would look exactly the same.

Those look like old Nikon color rendering, fairly low micro-contrast and PF ... I'm going with the Vivitar / Tokina (Nikon wannabe's of yore).

I"ve got the old Viv Series 1 100-400 and the 120-600. The thing about Vivitar is that they borrowed optical design from everybody else, so sometimes you got glass that rendered more like Nikon, others times more like Canon.

This could be shot with just about any lens of just about any quality. Only the dead center is partially sharp and the shallow depth of field completely eliminates any detail, distortion or color evaluations on the rest of the image.

Are you sure the Vivitar is Tokina, and not Olympus?

AFAIK, the two versions of Vivitar Series 1 70-210mm f/3.5 zooms were made by either Kino (Kiron) or Tokina. The Kino (which I owned) has a 67mm filter, and the Tokina is 62mm.

See, http://www.robertstech.com/vivitar.htm

The bottom section of this page (linked above) includes "Deciphering Vivitar Serial Numbers", which specifies the actual manufacturer of any Vivitar lens from the early-sevenites through late-eighties.

Participation is optional. You might have wasted as much time replying as reading...

And how would you expect us to tell the difference when you have not posted comparison shots

There is nothing remarkable about the image.
