I own the Sigma 120-300 2.8 sport, and for most field sports, 300 just doesn't cut it most of the time. I have heard mixed reviews about the older sigma teleconverters, and I was wondering if anyone could chime in with their experience shooting the latest 1.4x around wide-open. I don't want to fork over the cash and then need to stop down to 5.6 and narrower just to get acceptable results. I am not looking for ultra-sharpness, as I am a newspaper photog, and I only care how the print looks. I just need to know that the autofocus will keep up in so-so light and that I don't need to add a ton of sharpening.
