I've always had good luck with Sandisk CF cards and I was wondering which you use in your 1DMKIV ?

I use a Transcend CF 64 GB UDMA 7 600x card, and a Transcend SD 32 GB SDHC Class 10 600x, or SanDisk SD 32 GB Extreme Class 10 UHS-1.

I use a pair of Transcend CF 64 GB UDMA 7 1000x in my 1DX.

Guys... The OP asks for *Sandisk* recommendations, not *Transcend*

I have 2 16GB Sandisks, one is Extreme and one is newer Extreme Pro. Both work flawlessly in 1D Mark IV, although Extreme Pro is an overkill since the camera does not support this level of UDMA. So they are about the same in real world useage.

In my 1DMk2N I'm using Transcend 32gb CF and SDHC cards; 400x and 600x, I've tried faster cards but found little increase, in newer 1D bodies I'd guess faster cards would help

With my 7D I've switched from Lexar 64gb CF 800x to 1000x and noticed a slight difference but it's nothing stunning, in a 7D2 that might be different tho...

I've found that any recent CF card works fine, I use Sandisk and Lexar pretty much interchangeably.

Back in the day of the 1DIV, the fastest writes were in the mid 60s, so you'd want a card with writes around 90MB/sec. (600x).

http://www.robgalbraith.com/camera_wb_multi_pagee0f1.html?cid=6007-10549

Many of the 800x cards write at only 400x (60 MB/sec.) so you will be below the maximum. A 64GB 1000x+ card like the Extreme Pro is only $100 and well worthwhile.

I have 1472 GB of the fastest Lexar cards, mainly 1066x with a few 1000x. I'm not sure why you don't like them.

It looks like the specs on the SandDisk Extreme Pro cards have changed over time...

The ones I'm using in my 1D4 currently are 16GB 90 MB/s UDMA 6. Looking at Amazon, there are also 16GB Extreme Pro cards that are 160 MB/s UDMA 7.

Very strange... they usually give them a different name as the speeds increase (Extreme II, Extreme III, Extreme Pro, etc.)

The SanDisk product names and label colors change like the weather. It's ridiculous.

The SanDisk 90MB/sec. UDMA 6 cards are rather slow in modern Canon bodies, and are worse than other cards of that era. I don't even use them anymore. Their current UDMA 7 cards are much faster.

I used the Extreme 16GB cards at 60MB/s when I had my 1D4. I know that seems slow by most standards today but I honestly never had any issue with them shooting sports. I tend to shoot 3-5 shot bursts for peak moments so I don't think I ever relied heavily on the write speed of the card.

When I went to a 1DX I switched to Lexar 1000x and 1066x cards as I like to mirror a lot now. The Sandisk cards had some mis-labled packaging as I recall so I didn't trust them at the time.

The 1DX does not slow down when writing to two cards, but the buffer clearance rate is reduced.

I have good luck with 16GB Extreme and Extreme Pro CF cards in my 1d4. Never had an issue in burst mode shooting mRAW, but I use it at 3fps mostly with occasional short bursts at 10fps. I also have a 16GB Extreme Pro SD card in the 1d4. If you do a lot of 10fps shooting, consider bigger cards.

My understanding is that card speed becomes an issue only when the camera cache approaches full and when downloading. Not sure about video; don't do that.

when shooting with the faster cards and thousands of shots, it's great to have download speeds to the computer of 130MBS +. Slower cards just take to long to download.
