Well, certainly not something I see everyday. This doe didn't appear to be in any distress, and it was a pretty hot and humid day so I figured she was just "hanging out" in the middle of this muddy pond not too far from my home.

A neat shot Chris. I occasionally see them in the water at a local lake too ~ Ron

Nice find & a good shot to give the proportions of the deer & the pond.

Not sure if I've ever seen a deer in a pond or even swimming except for crossing a river. I wonder if the water helps with ticks or other skin/fur issues?

Locally, this year's fawn have now grown enough to be able to drink from the bird bath.

How are you liking your new 100-400 type II?

Neat capture! Kinda wish you could have gotten a front on shot but I know they don't always listen to us even if we ask politely.

I've only seen this once in my life and it was a buck swimming across a lake many years ago. This is rare behavior for them. There's a good chance they do this to evade coyotes which are exploding in population here in the east.

A front on shot might have been possible had I decided to ignore the large, and multiple "No Trespassing" signs but I decided to play it safe, and shoot from public property.

The 100-400 vII is an awesome lens... tack sharp, and super quick focusing. I can't say that I miss my 400DO very much at all.
