p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Nikon Camera Body Subdued Decals?

I'll be traveling out of the country later and want to stealth the camera a little. I've searched around but was curious if anyone knows of a place the sells black Nikon decals that go in the white section above the lens mount? I know a lot of people just use tape but would prefer a cleaner look.

If you have a label maker from an office supply store, you could make up any kind of a name to put there. Like Praktika, Minolta, Zenit or anything else.

black electrical tape. works every time and is easily replaced.

now, you just want to show you have a nikon camera but just not so prominently?

a thief is a thief is a thief. they're pretty brand agnostic.

I just use black gaffer tape - leaves no residue, easy to tear by hand into tiny rectangles that fit just right.

Gives a subdued 'tactical' look, also can do good job protecting common bump and rub points on bodies and lenses, larger pieces can be removed as needed to hold stuff down on the job, makes tripod legs more comfortable and grippier for the hands, locks focus rings down to avoid bumping them, on and on...

You're just kidding yourself
Used to be...if the body's big enough to change lenses,
it's big enough to steal. Now cellphones are targets at
$600-$800 a pop. No amount of gaffers tape will deter.

A scum bag thief doesn't care what it is. The bigger the camera the more value they see. I've never understood why people try hiding the brand.

I'd like to see them try to steal an 8x10 studio camera.

A drugged out criminal will steal whatever is available and a professional thief will fairly well know what you have. I would not bother. Save your money for insurance.

Ok thanks for the feedback... I won't bother with anything. Years back many were talking about hiding product brand names to not be as noticeable.

I don't bother with my Nikon cameras but with my Leica cameras at $6500 I did use black electrical tape which made them look like a point and shoot to the average observer.

It is the large lenses like the 14-24mm and 70-200mm that will make you stand out and a possible target for thieves.
